China has urged Sudan to work hard in rescuing kidnapped Chinese nationals in the country, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said here on Monday.

Since the Chinese nationals were kidnapped in Sudan's Darfur region on Saturday, the Foreign Ministry has directed the embassy in Sudan to launch an emergency mechanism. [Read more]

A spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry on Monday called for concerted efforts by all parties to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.

Asked to comment on reports in media in the Republic of Korea that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) is planning a nuclear test, Hong Lei said peace and stability on the peninsula is in the interests of all parties. China denounces Malian rebels' latest offensive and urges the early implementation of a United Nations (UN)resolution to restore stability, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Monday.

"China condemns the latest military operation by Mali's anti-government forces and notices that related countries and regional organizations, at the request of the Malian government, dispatched ground forces and military airplanes to strike against rebel forces," Hong Lei said a daily press briefing.
