BEIJING, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- A reception was held in Beijing on Monday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Luxembourg.
Chen Changzhi, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said at the event that relations between China and Luxembourg have gained substantial progress over the past 40 years.
He said China appreciates Luxembourg's long-term stance of adhering to the one-China policy and offering understanding and support to China on matters concerning territorial sovereignty.
The Chinese side hopes the two countries can further deepen political mutual trust, maintain exchanges at various levels, and promote bilateral trade and investment cooperation so as to achieve continuous new development in bilateral relations, according to Chen.
While addressing the reception, Luxembourg's Crown Prince Guillaume said China and Luxembourg share a long history of friendliness and have witnessed frequent high-level exchanges in recent years.
Luxembourg is willing to make joint efforts with China to expand the cooperation between the two countries in various areas, he added.
The reception was co-hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Luxembourg Embassy in China. About 200 guests from both countries attended.
