9 dead, 29 injured in N China collision

TAIYUAN, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Nine people died and 29 others were injured when a bus and truck both plunged off a bridge after colliding Wednesday morning in north China's Shanxi Province, authorities said.

The bus collided with the truck on a section of a highway in Wenshui County at around 9:40 a.m., and then both vehicles plunged off the bridge, said a spokesman with the county government.

One person died at the scene, and another eight died in hospital after medical treatment failed. Among the injured who are receiving medical treatment, three are in serious condition, said the spokesman.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.
