The Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission on Wednesday reached a deal to buy PM2.5 protection devices from Italian company HSD, China Radio International reported.
Sanispira is a nasal filter designed to trap fine dust, pollens and other allergens.
The filter helps retain fine particles PM10, PM2.5 and PM1.0, and holds seasonal pollen and dust mites.
Wu Jianmin, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, was quoted in the report as saying that Sanispira is useful in enhancing personal protection, especially in industries that create fine dust.
According to the report, HSD will first donate 120,000 Sanispira devices to China, which will be distributed to traffic polices and sanitation?workers. After that, HSD will supply the filter to Beijing city government for 1 yuan ($0.16) a pair.
