ZHENGZHOU, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Most of the casualties in a fatal bus collision in central China's Henan Province on Thursday have been confirmed as employees of Foxconn, the world's largest electronics contractor.
The accident happened at 8:22 a.m., when two passenger buses collided in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan, killing seven people and injuring at least 20 others, according to sources with the Zhengzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau.
One bus crashed into the middle of the other bus, causing it to overturn.
One of the buses belongs to Foxconn, while the other has not been identified.
Multiple sources, including police, hospital workers and Foxconn employees, told Xinhua that most casualties were from the company, but the exact number of casualties is still unknown.
Most of the injured people were sent to Zhengzhou No. 1 People's Hospital and No. 7 People's Hospital, where most have been hospitalized in the orthopedic and neurosurgery departments, Foxconn employees told Xinhua.
Those who have been hospitalized have refused to answer questions about their company or the accident.
It is not yet known exactly how many people were in the two buses at the time of the accident.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway, police said.
The accident was the second of its kind involving Foxconn employees in the past month in Zhengzhou. On Dec. 23, 2012, a collision involving a truck and a minibus left eight dead and nearly 20 injured.
Sources said some of the casualties were Foxconn employees, but the exact number was not known.
By the end of 2012, Foxconn in Zhengzhou alone employed nearly 200,000 people.
