Xu Qiliang urges to fully tap application potential of BeiDou satellites

BEIJING, September 4 (ChinaMil) -- Xu Qiliang, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the CPC, attended the summing-up and commendation meeting on the BeiDou-2 navigation satellite project on September 3, 2013 in Beijing. He stressed that it is essential to constantly notch up new success in the cause of satellite navigation and push forward innovative development of China's aerospace equipment.

Zhang Youxia, member of the CMC and director of the General Armaments Department (GAD) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), attended and addressed the meeting.

Xu Qiliang stressed that the BeiDou system has entered a critical stage of development and application, and it is imperative to fully tap the application potential of the BeiDou satellites and timely solve problems arising from the application, so as to ensure safety and reliability of the BeiDou system.

In his speech, Zhang Youxia pointed out that it is necessary to ensure stable operation of the system with high reliability, be world-oriented and strive to build the system by high standards, and push forward application and promotion of the system efficiently.

The meeting commended the collectives and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the building of the BeiDou-2 navigation satellite project.
