BEIJING, August 26 (ChinaMil) –Having successfully accomplished its visit and medical services in Bangladesh, the "Peace Ark" hospital ship of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) departed from Chittagong Port on the afternoon of August 25, 2013, local time, heading for Thilawa Port of Myanmar to launch medical services there.

During its 6-day stay in Bangladesh, the "Peace Ark" hospital ship received a total of 7,048 outpatients and accomplished 84 surgical operations, making the highest single-day outpatient visits of 1,700-plus persons/times. Its average daily outpatient visits account for one fourth of the total daily outpatient visits of the 60 local hospitals in Chittagong city.

The hospital ship also sent a team of medical workers to a Bangladesh naval hospital for medical services and to the Bangladesh Naval Academy and a local school to hold health education and donation activities.

Meanwhile, the "Peace Ark" also strengthened exchanges with local medical personnel. The Chinese naval medical workers on the hospital ship offered local medical personnel with on-site guidance and technical assistances in two medical exchange activities.

The hospital ship provided physical examinations for 100-plus persons/times of the staff of the Chinese embassy and personnel of the Chinese-funded institutions.

In the past several days, the "Peace Ark" had become the focus of Bangladesh people and media. It attracted more than 40 reporters from 20-odd local media to cover its activities.
