PLAAF hires 50 academician consultants

BEIJING, May 2, (ChinaMil) -- The Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAAF) held a ceremony of hiring academician consultants on April 28, 2013. A total of 50 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) received the letters of appointment as the 5th academician consultants for the construction and development of the PLAAF at the ceremony.

Ma Xiaotian, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) and commander of the PLAAF, attended the ceremony and presented the letters of appointment.

The academician consultants, being at the development forefront of their respective fields, have been playing active roles in guiding and pushing forward the drafting of the PLAAF's strategy and planning, the establishment of new-type combat power system, the approval and development of major special projects, and the cultivation of high-tech talents for the PLAAF. Therefore, the PLAAF will attract more scientists to participate in the transformation of the PLAAF, said a leader of the PLAAF.
