"Peace-13" multinational maritime joint military exercise starts in Pakistan

Yuan Yubai, commander of the 14th escort taskforce of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), and his party totaling eight persons came to the Karachi Base of Pakistan and successively called on Vice Admiral Tassine, commander of the Logistics Department of the Pakistani Navy, Rear Admiral Abbussi, commander of the Pakistani Coast Guard, and Rear Admiral Siddiqui, commander of the Karachi Fleet of the Pakistani Navy, and met with naval commanders of various countries participating in the "Peace-13" multinational maritime joint military exercise on the morning of March 4, 2013.

The commander of the 14th naval escort taskforce of the Chinese PLA Navy held friendly exchanges with the commanders of the Pakistani Navy in the meeting room of the Karachi Base. Yuan Yubai said that he was honored to lead the 14th naval escort taskforce of the Chinese PLA Navy to visit Karachi and participate in the "Peace-13" multinational maritime joint military exercise led by the Pakistani Navy. The 14th Chinese naval escort taskforce was warmly received by the Pakistani Navy, making the taskforce feel the traditional friendship as well as the all-weather strategic cooperative relationship between China and Pakistan, Yuan said.

After that, Rear Admiral Siddiqui, commander of the Karachi Fleet of the Pakistani Navy, informed the commanders of the multinational navies of the relevant situation for the "Peace-13" multinational maritime joint military exercise and exchanged souvenirs.

The opening ceremony of the "Peace-13" multinational maritime joint military exercise was held on the very evening at the club of the Karachi Base. During which, senior military officers of various countries participating in the military exercise reviewed the Guard of Honor of the Pakistani Navy. Besides, the flag-raising ceremony was held, and the congratulatory message from the Pakistan Navy was read.

After the ceremony, the 14th naval escort taskforce of the Chinese PLA Navy held a grand deck reception on the flight deck of the "Harbin" guided missile destroyer. A total of 220 persons including Pakistani military personnel including Siddiqui, commander of the Karachi Fleet of the Pakistani Navy, commanders and soldier representatives of various countries participating in the military exercise as well as personnel from the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, and Chinese nationals and overseas Chinese from the Chinese-funded institutions attended the deck reception.
