Industry federation urged to serve non-public business development

BEIJING, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- A senior Communist Party of China official on Friday called on the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC) to further serve the development of the country's non-public sector.

Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee made the remarks, on behalf of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council, in a congratulation letter to the ACFIC to celebrate the opening of its 11th congress on Friday. Liu extended congratulations during a meeting with all congress participants.

The ACFIC was urged to study and implement the spirit of the 18th CPC National Congress, maintain its economic and non-governmental characteristics, and adhere to the organization's theme of work to promote the healthy development of the non-public sector as well as the businessmen in this field.

The ACFIC should fully play its role in the field of ideological education among the non-public business circles and help people of the non-public economic circles better participate in the country's political and social affairs, according to the letter.

The federation was also called on to assist government's administration and service for the sector.

The federation was urged to promote reform and development of relevant industry associations and help in building harmonious labor relations and assist government in its efforts relating to social management.

The ACFIC was also praised for its contribution in smoothing the link between the government and non-public sector. The letter also recognized the ACFIC's importance to the country's united front work and economic work as a non-governmental organization.

According to the report to the 18th CPC National Congress, the CPC pledged to "unswervingly encourage, support and guide the development of the non-public sector, and ensure that economic entities under all forms of ownership have equal access to factors of production in accordance with the law, compete on a level playing field and are protected by the law as equals."

Founded in 1953, the ACFIC is a non-governmental organization chiefly made up by enterprises and people in the non-public industrial and commercial sector.

It has more than 2.94 million enterprise, group and individual members.
