Han Zheng appointed Shanghai's Party chief

Han Zheng -- Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee

BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Han Zheng has been appointed secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shanghai Municipal Committee, replacing Yu Zhengsheng, according to a decision made by the CPC Central Committee.

Yu, 67, has been elected a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

Han, born in 1954, is currently also mayor of Shanghai.

The CPC Central Committee has also decided that Sun Zhengcai will no longer serve as secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee.

Sun, born in 1963, has been appointed Party chief of Chongqing Municipality, according to an official statement announced earlier Tuesday.
