BEIJING, July 18 (People's Daily Online) -- China will levy short term punitive duties on solar-grade polysilicon imported from the United States and South Korea from July 24.
The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced the preliminary decision on Thursday, saying the solar-grade polysilicon exporters from the two countries dumped their products on the Chinese market and impaired domestic producers' interests.
Polysilicon is commonly used in electronics and solar cells. The investigation was launched by the ministry in July 2012, at the request of Chinese polysilicon producers.
