Japanese PM kicks off 3-nation visit in Europe

TOKYO, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe left here on Saturday for a visit to Poland, Britain and Ireland and to attend a summit of the Group of Eight (G8) scheduled on June 17 and 18 in Britain's Northern Ireland.

In Warsaw, Poland, Abe is expected to meet with leaders of Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia and to unveil his plan to hold summit with leaders of the four countries on a regular basis to enhance ties, according to local media.

At the G8 summit, Abe will explain his economic policies, which is dubbed "Abenomics" and featured by bold monetary easing, flexible fiscal spending and a growth strategy, to the fellow leaders and show his determination to revitalize Japan's sluggish economy, said Japan's Kyodo News.

The prime minister is also expected to unveil an emergency humanitarian aid worth about 10 million U.S. dollars to Syria in the G8 summit held in Lough Erne.

Abe will hold bilateral meetings with his British counterpart David Cameron, Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Barack Obama.

After the G8 meeting, Abe will pay a visit to Ireland, the first by a sitting Japanese prime minister, and is expected to meet with his Irish counterpart. Abe is due to return to Japan on June 20.
