Wang Jianlin, chairman of property giant Wanda Group is the richest person in Beijing with a total personal wealth of 78 billion yuan (US$12.4 billion) in 2013, according to the latest Hurun Global Rich List.
41 of the 357 richest Chinese individuals from this year's so-called "Nine-Zero Club" reside in Beijing, capital of China, making it the region with the second largest number of billionaires in the country, trailing only behind Hong Kong SAR, which can boast 54.
The abovementioned two areas are followed by Shanghai with 24, Shenzhen with 22, Taipei with 22, Hangzhou with 18 and Guangzhou with 16.
14 of the top 100 richest Chinese live in Beijing, with the ten richest billionaires in the capital sharing a combined wealth of 381.5 billion yuan (US$60.6 billion).
Of these 357 Chinese billionaires, 262 live on the Chinese mainland, 54 in Hong Kong and 32 in Taiwan.
Globally, five Chinese cities are ranked among the world's top ten prime locations for the wealthiest to reside in. The number of billionaires living in the top five -- Moscow, New York, Hong Kong, Beijing and London – stands at 76, 70, 54, 41 and 40, respectively.
Hurun's report shows that 1,453 people worldwide have a personal wealth of US$1 billion or more, as of January 17, 2013, including 357 Chinese people. The U.S. and China share half of the world's billionaires.
Chinese billionaires possess an average personal wealth of 16 billion yuan (US$2.5 billion). 85-year old Li Ka-Shing, chairman of Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. and Cheung Kong Holdings Ltd., was given the title of "richest Chinese" with a personal fortune of 200 billion yuan (US$31.7 billion).
