Statistics show that Alipay right now averagely has more than 1,000 users in Zhongsha Islands, Xisha Islands and Nansha Islands, and these users’ payment amounted to 167,900 yuan, 65,200 yuan and 232,300 yuan respectively.
Data also tell that men in Tumushuke city in Xinjiang bought the most commodities for women last year; women in Taiwan’s Jiayi bought the most commodities for men.
Amount of wireless payment up five times
Alipay’s statement also shows the wireless payment amount and the number of people using wireless payment soared by 546 percent and 223 percent respectively compared to the year of 2011. Over 4.3 million consumers paid on mobile phones and most of them are male, who like trying new things and are fond of online games and online shopping, according to Zhan Yongsheng, who is in charge of the project of Alipay statement.
In 2012, transactions via mobile phone payment accounted for 9.2 percent of the total transaction through Alipay, exceeding that through PC. On the “Single Day”- Nov. 11, 2011, 900 transactions were done through mobile phones.
Shanghai, Beijing and Chengdu are ranked top three in terms of the number of Alipay usage on mobile phone.
As for the proportion of mobile phone payment in the local total transactions via Alipay, Lhasa, capital city of southwestern China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, is ranked the first, followed by Nyingchi, a county in Tibet, and Naochong in Sichuan. As for activity, the top seven cities are from western China, and three from southern China.
Data also show spending of young people born in 1980s accounts for about 50 percent of the total consumption. But for consumption capacity, they lag behind those born in 1970s and 1960s.
