ANKARA, July 18 (Xinhua) -- A large amount of cannabis plants, valued at some 130 million U.S. dollars, were destroyed in a recent anti-narcotics operation in Turkey, Anadolu Agency reported Thursday.

In the two-day operation, Turkish security forces were sent to raid locations in southeastern Diyarbakir's Lice district, where the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party was active.

One person was detained and six others were subjected to judicial proceedings over involvement in growing the illegal plants, said the report.
