Nationwide movement announced to address cyber-bullying in U.S.

LOS ANGELES, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Educators in California are launching a nationwide plan to stop cyber-bullying by encouraging online peer comments to curb the widespread problem in the United States.

The Sunfull Movement, a South Korea-based anti-bullying nonprofit organization, said Tuesday that the program to be launched in September aims to get young people in America to support their peers by posting positive and constructive comments online.

The organization has been talking with local schools and police to expand partnership. It first started the movement in South Korea in 2007 to rein in cyber-bullying, which organizers said has resulted in some youth suicides.

Rick Taylor, spokesman for the Sunfull Movement, told Xinhua that bullying is a serious problem at U.S. schools, and the organization hopes to reach most schools in the country.
