Train derailment in southwest Russia injures over 70

MOSCOW, July 7 (Xinhua) -- A passenger train derailed Sunday in Russia's southwest Krasnodar Territory, leaving at least 76 people injured, local media reported.

The first five cars of the Novosibirsk-Adler train went off rails in the railway section between stations Krylovskaya and Kislyakovka at around 17:00 Moscow time (1300 GMT), the Itar-Tass news agency quoted official sources as saying.

"Six people received injuries of moderate gravity while seventy others suffered minor injuries," the spokesman said.

Another law enforecement source said more than 80 people have sought medical assistance. The cars were lying sidelong.
