BANGKOK, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Thai Foreign Ministry Friday said Thailand has been following recent political developments in Egypt with concern and hopes for a speedy return to normalcy and stability.

"The Thai Government is confident that the people of Egypt will be able to overcome the present challenges and believes that the future of Egypt should be determined by the people of Egypt," a press release of the ministry said.

Thailand hopes that all parties concerned in Egypt would work together in the interest of peace, stability and democratic process in Egypt, according to the press release.

The Thai Embassy in Cairo has been in constant contact with Thai nationals in Egypt and has advised them to refrain from traveling to risky areas. At the moment, there are no reports of Thai nationals being affected by the situation.

In light of the present situation in Egypt, the foreign ministry also advise Thai nationals wishing to travel to Egypt to monitor the situation regularly, avoid traveling to places of demonstration, and stay in contact with the Embassy.
