Kyrgyzstan protests to Uzbekistan over killing on border

BISHKEK, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday delivered a note of protest to Uzbek ambassador in connection with the killing of a Kyrgyz citizen by Uzbek border guards, the press service of the Ministry said.

The unidentified Kyrgyz citizen was shot by Uzbek border guards Thursday and died later from the wounds. The incident occurred near the "Markaz" Aydarkenskogo border post in the Gulpiyan area.

The ministry stressed that the victim was shot on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the ministry, the two sides have agreed to conduct a joint investigation into the case and bring to justice those responsible. They also agreed to improve border control to prevent similar incidents in the future.
