TIKRIT, Iraq, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The governor of Salahudin province north of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad escaped two bomb attacks unharmed on Wednesday, but five of his bodyguards were wounded, a provincial police source told Xinhua.
Two car bombs went off simultaneously in the afternoon near the convoy of vehicles carrying Governor Ahmed Abdulla al-Jubouri while he was returning to his house in a village located north of the provincial capital city of Tikrit, some 170 km north of Baghdad, the source said on condition of anonymity.
The blasts destroyed three of the convoy's vehicles and wounded five of the governor's bodyguards, the source said.
Earlier in the day, the governor in the morning escaped another bombing when a roadside bomb struck his convoy at the northern entrance of Tikrit, damaging two of the convoy's vehicles without human casualties, the source added.
On May 21, Jubouri escaped unhurt another assassination attempt when two roadside bombs hit his convoy while moving on a main road between the provinces of Salahudin and Kirkuk.
Salahudin province is a Sunni dominated province, with its capital Tikrit being the hometown of the former president Saddam Hussein.
