5.8-magnitude quake hits south of Tonga

SUVA, May 24 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted south of Tonga at 11:10:48 GMT on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.00 km, was initially determined to be at 24.2490 degrees south latitude and 174.8296 degrees west longitude.
