MEXICO CITY, April 21 (Xinhua) -- A strong earthquake jolted Mexico on Sunday evening, shaking buildings in Mexico City and prompting residents to run outdoors.
The temblor, which struck at 1816 local time (0116 GMT Monday), measured 5.9 magnitude, with its epicenter located 33 km northwest of La Union and 327 km southwest of Mexico city at a depth of 73.9 km, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The China Earthquake Networks Center placed the magnitude of the tremor at 6.4.
