VIENNA, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Austrian Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger welcomed the European Commission's positive monitoring report of Croatia Tuesday, and said there were no more obstacles for European Union accession.
He added that through following a reform course Croatia had "impressively used its historic opportunity to be part of the European integration process".
Following the reconciliation of the dispute with Slovenia over Ljubljanska Banka, nothing further stood in the way of Croatia's accession into the European Union, Spindelegger said.
The Croatian "success story" was encouragement to other countries of the Western Balkans, that "reform work, hard work, and political determination will be worth it."
The European Commission's monitoring report stated Croatia had now fulfilled all commitments required for EU accession, including reforms in competitive policy, judiciary, fundamental rights, justice, freedom, and security.
19 European Union member states as well as Croatia have ratified the accession treaty, with the eight remaining member states having initiated the process. Croatia is to join the European Union on July 1.
