RAMALLAH, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday condemned the rockets Gaza militants fired into Israel in the morning, his aide said.
Nemer Hammad, Abbas's political adviser, said that the president "condemns violence against civilians regardless its source, including the rocket fire."
Israel announced that two rockets landed in its southern territories, part of the four fired from the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.
The rocket attack, the second Palestinian violation of a November cease-fire, came hours before U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
No Palestinian group has claimed responsibility for the rocket attack.
Hammad said that Abbas supports the Egyptian-brokered cease- fire that ended eight days of fighting between Hamas and Israel, and calls for reinforcing the deal.
Israeli violations of the cease-fire have killed four Palestinians and wounded dozens in separate shootings.
