KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Eight have been arrested for suspected involvement in a rape case of an American teacher earlier this month, local media reported Monday.
Among the eight suspects, three men and two women were arrested during a morning raid on Monday, local police said.
The 24-year-old English teacher was kidnapped when she boarded a taxi back home after shopping at a shopping mall near Kuala Lumpur on March 11. The taxi driver stopped a few minutes after she got it and picked up a man, before making another stop on the excuse that the car had run out of fuel.
The teacher was then asked to get into a waiting van and was brought to a house, where she was raped by one man.
She managed to escape on the next day and went to the police.
