UN to assist Kyrgyzstan in fight against terrorism

BISHKEK, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) State Committee will help Kyrgyzstan in its fight against terrorism and extremism, the press service of the National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan (SNSC) said here on Monday.

Director of the SNSC's Anti-Terrorism Center Mamasadykov Rustam and UNODC Regional Representative Alexander Sychev signed a project document, titled "Strengthening the criminal justice system in the countries of Central Asia to combat terrorism in accordance with the rule of law," the press service noted.

The signing parties have agreed to support a regional approach to combating terrorism and strengthening the capacity of Central Asian countries including Kyrgyzstan needed to address issues related to terrorism, it added.
