MOSCOW, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Eight people died in a fire broke out Sunday morning near the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, emergencies authorities said.
Local emergencies branch received fire information at about 4:30 a.m. Moscow time (0030 GMT) in the Sadovy settlement near Yekaterinburg, the fourth-largest city in the middle of Eurasian continent.
Firefighters saw an engulfed one-storey administrative building in Sibirka Street when they arrived at the site, authorities said.
The fire was extinguished at 6:41 Moscow time (0241 GMT). Rescuers found eight bodies during the debris cleaning operation, the emergencies department told local media.
An investigation of the fire was underway. Preliminary information shows those killed were members of a construction team.
