Start-ups and SMEs Cooperation Forum of Cross-Straits Entrepreneurs Purple Mountain Summit 2013 was held on November 5 in International Conference Hall of Nanjing Purple Palace Convention Center. Chairman of Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits Chen Deming was present at the forum. Jiang Yiren and Lin Huiying, conveners for Start-ups and SMEs Cooperation Alliances from mainland China and Taiwan region respectively, also attended the forum and delivered addresses. High-ranking entrepreneurs from both sides of the Straits like Wang Zongnan, Party Secretary and Chairman of Bright Food Group, Terry Gou, President of Hon Hai Precision Industry, Zhou Haihong, President of Hongdou Group Co., Ltd., Xie Shicang, Chairman of World Chinese Business Trade & Development in Taiwan, gave speeches in the forum centered on the topic of “opportunities and challenges faced by enterprises across the Straits under the new situation”.
In his address titled “The Reconstruction of World Industrial Pattern and the Industrial Transformation and Upgrading across the Straits”, Chairman Wang noted that since the signing of Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement in 2010, great changes have happened to both the internal and external environments of cross-Straits cooperation. The economic and trade relationships across the Straits have become more and more institutionalized and normalized with deepened cooperation seen in the industrial circle of both sides. The forum, Wang believed, was of great significance since it successfully set up a valuable communication platform for entrepreneurs across the Straits to jointly push the integration of resources across the Straits, enhance the connection of industrial circles at both sides, and deepen the cross-Straits economic cooperation for mutual benefits and sharpened competitive edges. Wang also pointed out that as the reconstruction of world industrial pattern was entering into a key stage, we must be aware that: firstly, the powerhouse for global economic growth has shifted from the developed countries to the emerging markets as represented by China, which started to endeavor to climb to higher ladders in the global economic value chain; secondly, trade protectionism reemerged again; thirdly, new technologies and new economic concepts have found their ways to penetrate into people’s lives and minds.
Chairman Wang believed that there was wide space for both Bright Food Group and players in related fields of Taiwan to explore in days to come. Firstly, by enhancing direct business cooperation at both sides, Bright Food Group and its Taiwan partners could establish a mutually supplementary alliance, and quickly form competitive edges in the market since Taiwan food sector was advanced in terms of R&D, techniques and marketing, while Bright Food Group enjoyed natural merits in manufacturing and processing, sales network and channels. Secondly, Chairman Wang hoped that the well-woven sales network and market terminals established by Bright Food Group could work as an ideal platform to help Taiwan-originated food and agricultural products enter the mainland market smoothly. Thirdly, by learning from Taiwan enterprises’ global operation vision, business operation and management, talent cultivating and retaining practice, corporate governance mechanics as well as by drawing on Bright Food Group’s experiences in material control, market layout and whole industry chain involvement, both sides can harvest a win-win success on their journey towards upgraded industrial transformation and global expedition.
