My parents and parents-in –law prepared the wedding for me and my husband, because we were busy with work and none of us knows about wedding traditions.
Our opinion is wedding is necessary, so my husband and I held two weddings in hometowns of both of ours. But as we prefer simple wedding, we had less expensive, less stressful weddings with less details to worry about.

Give betrothal gift to the bride’s family is the tradition in my hometown. It is normally 60,000 or 80,000 yuan. My wife’s family didn’t receive my betrothal gift because they think it is not necessary. On my wedding day, I received 40,000 yuan from my friends and relatives, but I gave back to most of them when they were married.

Nowadays, some young people like to have big wedding, but my wife and I think that it is unnecessary for people to pretend to be rich by having an ostentatious wedding. After wedding, wife and husband will take a lifetime to manage their marriage. Money should be well planned for future not just for wedding. So “only do what it is worth to do” is the right choice.
