I have experienced my friend’s extravagant wedding in national holiday. Bentley, Maserati and other top-brand cars were seen in the wedding motorcade; five-star hotel was chosen for wedding reception, and lobster, abalone were served on feast. Wedding banquet cost about 30,000 yuan per table, and with betrothal gift to bride’s family, payment to wedding company, my friend’s wedding has sponged up most of his saving.

In most Chinese’s mind, reputation is so important, and wedding gives a chance to show off their wealth and respectability, so motorcade, dresses, diamond ring, decoration and everything for wedding need to be the best. “I don’t want my wedding to be less impressive than others’” is always heard during wedding preparation.

In my opinion, wedding is just for a day, and marriage is for a life. It doesn’t matter how big the wedding is or how much money is spent on wedding; the important thing is a happy marriage which will go through lifetime. With sincere blessings from family, relatives and friends, a simple wedding can also be beautiful and memorable.
