Meng Wei was born in Chaoyang, Beijing in 1981. He graduated from a special school for those with learning disabilities. From 2001 to 2003 he received training at Beijing Fengtai Lizhi Rehabilitation Center.

He has worked in a Carrefour supermarket chain since 2005 where his job as a tally clerk gives him a strong sense of responsibility. He married ten years ago.
