The show traces Gordy’s rise from struggling boxer and mechanic to music mogul who made Motown into the legendary institution it remains today. Before seeing the show Ross spoke of her excitement.
The musical opens with The Contours’ "Do You Love Me". The band were Gordy’s first signing in 1962 and their hit song was the label’s first million-selling record. "Dancing in the Street" by Martha and the Vandellas is also featured.
