Cole flowers in Wuyuan, Jiangxi province
Dubbed China’s most beautiful countryside, Wuyuan turns into a huge yellow gem in Jiangxi province during spring.
The county is one of the origins of Hui culture, which nurtured countless scholars, officials and tradesmen in the old days. The remaining Hui-style houses with horse-head walls and exquisite wood, brick and stone sculptures serve as reminders of past glory years.
Jiangling is the village with the most concentrated land of cole flowers. It has the best view of cole flowers which blossom upon curved terraces and resemble golden ribbons waving in the wind. Black and white houses are also inlaid into boundless cole flowers, forming a long ink painting scroll.
The big Likeng has been able to preserve the appearance of the original Hui-style village. Burn marks of fallen houses remain and tell stories of past glory years as moss on the stone paths document the village’s history. Because of its beauty, the village is frequently visited by art students as a popular site for painting..
On the other hand, the small Likeng is much busier. On both sides of the river, vendors sell local products which add flavor to the folk life.
