It is silly to believe doomsday rumors (2)

(People's Daily Online)

15:26, December 10, 2012

The panic buying of candles makes one wonder: Have these people used up the salt they rush shopped last year? This is not a disrespectful mock, because every time rumors appear, there are always people who believe them, and driven by panic, they would give rise to shopping rush, restlessness, migration of the entire family, or even tragedy of attempting suicide because of over-anxiety. This time, it is the candle that becomes hot. Some netizens blame the believers for their ignorance and said "they have low EQ and no brain". And experts said that everyone with a little basic scientific knowledge should know the occurrence of three consecutive days' darkness is impossible.

Not everyone has immunity to rumors so do not arbitrarily blame them for ignorance and lack of scientific knowledge. Just because a few people lack scientific knowledge, the popularization of science is needed and related experts and departments should undertake due obligations.
