Colombian VP asks FARC to hand over underage recruits (2)

(Xinhua)

14:31, November 22, 2012

In brief remarks to reporters after arriving at the Havana Convention Center for a third day of talks with the government, leading FARC delegate Ivan Marquez said, "We are working hard for peace and we are using the truth as a powerful weapon ... to persuade to seek peace for Colombia."

He accused Colombian undercover policemen of blackmailing the family of a guerrilla leader into revealing his whereabouts.

Despite the unexpected development, the talks proceeded after the government delegation arrived, headed by former Vice President Humberto de la Calle.

The closed-door negotiations began on Monday with an aim to end Latin America's longest-running insurgency.
