It is unclear how much percentage of the U.S.'s worries is real. Maybe they are just acting. Maybe various groundless charges against China are just their excuses for protectionism.
Globalization has continued to cause changes in the international division of labor, and the United States that has long been at the upper end of the global industrial chain is beginning to feel crisis woes. Some of the Chinese companies that helped U.S. and European multinational corporations complete manufacturing processes in an optimal price-performance ratio have started competing with them in investment and technological innovation. They are considered to have damaged U.S. and European interests and posed a potential threat to certain countries' core competitiveness.
It is unclear how closely anti-Chinese sentiments are related to the Wednesday report, but it is certain that such sentiments are spreading among U.S. and European elites. Their worries are understandable, but China will not make unilateral concessions to ease such worries.
The United States needs to restrain panic when facing competition and challenges, abandon dishonest practices of helping its domestic companies to resolve difficulties by "security measures," and treat the industrial upgrading of emerging countries honestly. The United States is very powerful and has enough room for maneuver, so it should keep the first place in the world by its actual strength, rather than by petty tricks of harming others to benefit itself.
