"Young people's unenthusiastic attitude toward promotions reflects their awareness of individual value," Dong Haijun, an associate professor at Central South University, was quoted by the paper as saying.

"But we should not come to the conclusion that younger people are not responsible workers. Those who are not enthusiastic about promotions are only part of the picture, " Dong added.
