Macao sets National Day holiday records for average, single-day arrivals
MACAO, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) reaffirmed its appeal as a tourism hub over the seven-day National Day holiday, with both average daily and single-day visitor arrivals the highest for any National Day holiday on record, the Macao Government Tourism Office said Thursday.
Daily arrivals averaged 163,000 during the Oct. 1-7 holiday, up 15.5 percent from last year's holiday, and peaked at 210,000 on Oct. 4, according to preliminary data.
More than nine in 10 hotel rooms were occupied on average during the holiday, with the occupancy rate rising 3.1 percentage points from last year's holiday, according to industry figures cited by the office.
Holiday attractions included fireworks displays and a carnival featuring food, performances and games, the office said.
