Macao's merchandise trade rises in August

MACAO, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Macao's merchandise exports and imports rose 10.8 percent and 18.4 percent year on year, respectively, in August, according to the latest data from Macao's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

The merchandise trade deficit widened by 1.66 billion patacas (about 205.45 million U.S. dollars) from a year earlier, the DSEC data suggests.

In the Jan.-Aug. period, exports increased 20.5 percent and imports 22.1 percent year on year, while the merchandise trade deficit grew by 15.71 billion patacas from the same period last year, the DSEC said.
