Chinese embassy in India holds reception to mark 77th founding anniversary of PRC

NEW DELHI, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy in India held a reception on Wednesday evening to mark the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

India's Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal graced the event as the chief guest, while Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong hosted the reception.

Speaking on the occasion, Xu said China and India are close neighbors, noting that "friendly exchanges and cooperation have always been the mainstream of our bilateral relations."

China is ready to work with India to act as practitioners of good-neighbourliness and friendship, champions for mutual achievements, exemplars of peaceful coexistence and leaders in promoting multilateral cooperation, and to promote China-India relations to new heights, the ambassador said.

He also noted that amid accelerating global changes unseen in a century, China and India are expected to jointly demonstrate a sense of historical responsibility, unequivocally uphold international fairness and justice, and firmly safeguard the common interests of the Global South.
