Guiyang, SW China's Guizhou launches diverse activities to upgrade flower viewing tours

Yongle township, Nanming district, Guiyang city, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province, has launched multiple activities during the peach blossom season, upgrading flower viewing tours for tourists.

The Yongle Taohuapao Marathon kicked off in a vast peach garden in the township on March 23, attracting over 1,000 participants, including elderly and young runners.

"I run while enjoying the beautiful flowers, and I find running no longer boring," said Li Wenjie, a participant in the event. Li added that running while appreciating the floral beauty with her children benefits the body and the mind.

After finishing the marathon, most of the runners remained here to watch a dragon dance performance, visit a market selling local specialties, and enjoy roadside concerts, among others.

Zi Tong, a Hanfu lover, dressed up in costumes of the Tang dynasty (618-907) after finishing the marathon in the morning, and played the zither under a peach tree. She also experienced traditional Chinese activities such as painting peach blossom fans.

"It's fascinating to combine the traditional cultural activities and customs with flower sightseeing," she said, adding that the combination of flower sightseeing and other activities offers more opportunities to socialize with others.

Many places across the country have likewise organized cultural activities to enrich the experience of tourists. Mochou Lake Park in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province and Daming Lake scenic spot in Jinan, east China's Shandong Province launched flower festival events featuring activities like parades, traditional Chinese cultural performances, and markets.
