Traditional autumn harvest display attracts tourists to village in E China's Jiangxi

Recently, in Huangling village, Wuyuan county, Shangrao, east China's Jiangxi Province, local villagers placed red peppers, corn, pumpkins, beans and other crops in bamboo trays and set them on wooden racks attached to Hui-style houses to dry. The colorful trays set against the ancient buildings, with their white walls and dark-tiled roofs, create a striking scene that draws many tourists.

Built on the mountainside, Huangling has little flat land, so rooftops have become the main place for drying crops, a local tradition known as shaiqiu, or autumn crop sun-drying. This tradition has evolved into a distinctive folk custom celebrating a good harvest, allowing visitors to experience the charm of traditional farming culture and the joy of the harvest amid a vibrant autumn scene.
