Green computing power conference held in Hohhot, N China's Inner Mongolia

More than 500 participants including academics, experts and corporate representatives attended the 2026 Green Computing Power (Artificial Intelligence) Conference held in Hohhot, capital of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, on Aug. 22.

The conference featured keynote speeches in relation to frontier fields, including coordinated development of computing capacity and electricity supply, AI, the token economy built around data tokens powering large language models, and the development of computing power networks.

Drawing on Inner Mongolia's abundant renewable energy resources, a growing industrial ecosystem and its role as a key hub in China's "East Data, West Computing" project, the conference brought together leading computing power companies for a series of contract signings.

At the opening ceremony, officials from Hohhot and neighboring Ulanqab city signed contracts for 13 major projects with a combined investment of 136.1 billion yuan (about $20.25 billion), covering chip testing, equipment manufacturing, computing centers and token factories. The contract signings marked the establishment of a complete industrial chain in Horinger New Area in Hohhot, spanning upstream hardware equipment and core testing, midstream computing infrastructure supply and downstream AI token generation and application.

The conference released a number of authoritative research reports, including the Research Report on the Development of Green Computing Power (2026) and the "East Data, West Computing" Hub Nodes Green Computing Power Index Research Report. It also launched the development of a comprehensive digital service export platform.

A wide range of pilot achievements was also showcased, including the country's first trusted data space, an urban high-speed computing network with millisecond-level latency, AI application scenarios and green electricity infrastructure. The national video large-model computing power base was also inaugurated during the conference.

Two themed activities and nine specialized sessions were also held during the conference.

The conference was hosted by the Hohhot municipal government, with this being the third Green Computing Power Conference held.

Horinger New Area in Hohhot has 62 computing centers with a total computing capacity of 150,000 PFlops, including 143,000 PFlops of intelligent computing capacity.
