China to make breakthroughs in core technologies, achieve sci-tech self-reliance

BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) -- China vows to drive advances in original innovation and breakthroughs in core technologies in key fields, and move faster to achieve greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology, according to a government work report submitted Thursday to the country's top legislature for deliberation.

China will take extraordinary measures to drive decisive breakthroughs across full chains in integrated circuits, machine tools, high-end instruments, basic software, advanced materials and bio-manufacturing, according to a draft outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) submitted on the same day for examination.
