Deadly U.S. mass shootings in 2023

WASHINGTON, April 16 (Xinhua) -- Four people were killed and at least 28 others injured in a shooting at a birthday party on Saturday night in the small Alabama town of Dadeville, the United States, authorities said Sunday.

This incident took the United States to a bleak milestone of more than 160 mass shootings so far this year, with 12,277 deaths from gun violence, according to a database run by the nonprofit research group Gun Violence Archive.

The following are some of the bloodiest shootings in the United States this year:

-- On April 11, one man died and three other people were hurt in a shooting at a funeral home in Washington, D.C.

-- On April 10, a shooting in downtown Louisville in the state of Kentucky left six people dead, including the shooter, and nine others injured.

-- On April 9, three people and a suspect died in an officer-involved shooting related to a domestic violence incident in Orlando, the southeastern state of Florida.

-- On April 8, two police officers were shot dead in a shooting during a traffic stop northwest of the village of Cameron in the northwestern state of Wisconsin.

-- On April 6, two people were killed and another was hospitalized after a shooting at a residence in the state of Colorado, authorities said.

-- On April 1, three people were killed on the scene and three others wounded at a bar shooting in Oklahoma City, the capital city of the midwestern state Oklahoma, authorities said.

-- On March 30, two people died and five others were wounded after a shooting outside a restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee, police said.

-- On March 27, three children and three adults died after a shooting at an elementary school in Nashville, the state of Tennessee.

-- On March 15, two people were killed in a shooting at a hotel in Portland in the state of Oregon, police said.

-- On Feb. 23, three people were killed following a shooting in Albuquerque, the largest city in the state of New Mexico, police said.

-- On Jan. 28, at least three people were killed and four others wounded in a shooting in a neighborhood in Los Angeles, reported local media, citing police.

-- On Jan. 24, three people were killed in a shooting at a convenience store in Yakima, the state of Washington.

-- On Jan. 23, seven people were killed and one was critically injured in two shootings in northern California, U.S. media reported.

-- On Jan. 22, a dozen people were injured at a nightclub shooting in Baton Rouge, the capital city of the southern state of Louisiana.

-- On Jan. 16, six people were killed in a shooting in central California, local media reported.

-- On Jan. 5, a 42-year-old man fatally shot seven other family members, including his wife and their five children, inside their home in the state of Utah before taking his own life, authorities said.
