The 2023 AMOY50 cross-country running and public hiking competition began in Siming district, Xiamen, southeast China’s Fujian Province, on April 9, attracting over 2,000 participants, including compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The 2023 Siming Sports and Fashion Season kicked off on the same day.
Contestants started the race from the Xiamen Botanical Garden, and traveled through a route dubbed as the city’s most appealing one, with mountains and sea sceneries, getting close to the city’s ecological beauty.
The competition’s route highlighted Xiamen’s natural landscape of mountains while facing the sea. It integrates hiking and cross-country running, providing an opportunity for both the public and professional runners to take part in, and generating greater involvement.
The Siming Sports and Fashion Season, founded in 2018, has already drawn about 280,000 athletes from over 60 countries and regions, including more than 10,000 Taiwan compatriots in Xiamen. This year’s sports and fashion season is set to hold a range of competitions and activities, which will run until August.
