On Dec. 2, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee publicized and released Zhu Youyong's advanced deeds to the whole society, granting him the title of "Model of the Era". 

Zhu Youyong is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, honorary president of Yunnan Agricultural University, chairman of Yunnan Science and Technology Association, and a well-known expert in plant pathology. He went deep into the villages of Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, Pu'er City, went all over the fields, lived and worked with the minority people, was sincerely loved by the people of all ethnic groups and highly praised by all sectors of society. He was affectionately called "Farmer Academician".
