The Changsha Customs announced on January 30 that, in 2018, Changsha’s total import and export value exceeded 100 billion yuan for the first time, amounting to 128.33 billion yuan, up 36.8% over last year. Its growth rate was 10.3 percentage points higher than the whole province, and 27.1 percentage points higher than the whole country. The exports totaled 82.31 billion yuan, up 39.9%; and the imports totaled 46.02 billion yuan, up 31.4 %.
In 2018, Changsha’s foreign trade value grew quarter by quarter. The import and export volumes in the four quarters were 22.58 billion yuan, 30.40 billion yuan, 33.12 billion yuan, and 42.23 billion yuan respectively, up 25.9%, 39.9%, 39.9%, and 38.5% respectively.
Last year, the import and export volume of Changsha’s general trade reached 99.38 billion yuan, up 37.2%, accounting for 77.4% of the total.
Mechanical and electrical products, high-tech products were the main imports and exports. In 2018, the total import and export volume of mechanical and electrical products in Changsha was 70.51 billion yuan, up 29.5%, accounting for 54.9% of the total.
Imports and exports of high-tech products were 14.67 billion yuan and 16.7 billion yuan respectively, showing a balanced development. Imports of high-tech products increased by 56.7 %.
Electric appliances and electronic products, computers and communication products are the most popular exports in the international market, with an export value of 10.76 billion yuan and 12.86 billion yuan respectively, up 38.7% and 13.7% respectively.
The most popular imported commodities in Changsha include integrated circuits, auto parts, automobiles, agricultural products, and dairy products.
Among them, imports of automobiles reached 1.93 billion yuan, up 130%, and imports of dairy products totaled 2.7 billion yuan, an increase of 63%.
