The photo above shows a recent fascinating double rainbow in the skies over Taiyangshan Mountain, Kaifu District, Changsha City. It lasts for about 6 minutes and then fades away.
A double rainbow is a special natural phenomenon formed when sunlight reflects twice in a water drop. On the periphery of the original rainbow, there is a concentric rainbow with a slightly larger diameter and reversed color. The inner rainbow is called the main rainbow and the outer one the secondary rainbow. (Photo by Liu Zhongkai)
